Since you aren't using the 'ATI High definition audio device', I assume, try disabling it (in device manager) to see if that affects your problem.
Try disabling through device manager or see if there are options for sound under Catalyst Control Center. If your monitor does not have built-in speakers, then you will need to connect an audio cable to an external speaker system to hear sound.
