I restart after that and it hangs. A lovely card which boasts high quality Burr-Brown DACS and an awesome sound. Either the OS writers produced an inadequate specification (inaccurate or lacking some vital piece of information) or the driver writers misinterpreted said specification (or both!). The problem still persists.
This issue in unfortunately a well know one as you can see in Creative forums for example. I noticed that the problem (only spdif visible) occurs when I change the xfi mode. ALchemy is not and hasn't been installed so it can't interfere. Then if I enabled CSM and did some setting but can not remember what but I manage to get in to Partitioting screen.

Also, please confirm that this was happening prior to these newest beta drivers. Although I already tried that before and did it again now, still nothing. I get an error saying that there was no detected device. If you mean the headphones tab in the Creative Control Panel, I believe that only kicks in when it detects something plugged into the dedicated headphone jack on the breakout I/O The first soundcard I have ever purchased which needs a 12v power supply to drive its hardware! Maybe that's a PCI related problem too (I wouldn't be surprised).
