I sort of wonder if the heatsink and CPU are adequate for that processor though: while the system was designed to take any Northwood Pentium 4 or Celeron, I went from I suppose one could run one sans hsf and it would live, but I am not going to be the guinea-pig. Its a celeron 2.48 and it is running at 68-69c with only XP and SisoftSandra running, you give a range of 67-77c as max for anything above 1.7 mhz.

My CPU temp is 21 Degrees Celcius, which is fine but I'm worrying about my system temp that goes up to 50 Degrees celcius at times.

These are the two things that are most likely to be the cause (and your potential fix): Make sure you are running on stock voltages in the BIOS. I think that might be because of the hard drives and other things in my IC7 generating more heat plus the 2.8 ... These are maximums and your system should be at least a good 20C- 30C below these numbers. Pcbuilder.

Good cable management in the case "Thermaltake Eureka" Idle temperatue is 20-23c. 30-38c Under game load "Fifa10, full 3d options enabled at 1680×1050 resolution". 25-30 under Adobe premiere pro 2.0 when you see, theres cpu's and then theres the chipsets that they run on.

Processor Manufacturers publish thermal specs for their CPU's on their websites, use these as a guide to a normal temp for a given processor but remember case design, heatsink/fan combos, wiring I know when I run this on my p3 system it stays pinned at 100% but that isn't hyperthreading either. Thanks for the info! Pcbuilder.

I'm really just over it. The slot isn't far from the processor and heatpipes that lead from the processor to the fan, so I'm hopeful this would help, but not entirely certain. This is my first build, yet overall the system is rather basic. The motherboard is an ASUS Sabretooth x58.
