Your RAM is fine and there's no reason for ECC modules unless you plan to build dedicated server/workstation, but in that case I would recommend at least X5660.

If you are certain your motherboard is e atx then it should fit ok. So 16GB should be the cut off limit for you. That means the Pentium, while definitely an awesome value for the cost, wouldn't be the best choice to utilize OP's budget since a decent GPU is still going to cost more Im going to see how my i7 970 goes with a GTX 970 on Vulkan compared to my 8350. this is the last upgrade I plan on making to this rig before I start from scratch in a couple years. If you don't feel like waiting though, a 1070 will do everything you want it to.

As for a GPU, the GTX 1070 is good buy.
