And what is the VID of your chip (can be found in realtemp or coretemp)? The stock hs will do ok, but not that good, you'll just have to check temps, don't let it get too far above 60C I'd say. I've had plenty of DDR800 that could attain that though. It doens't even run stable at 3Ghz with normal vcore. As for benchmarks though, there are many, myself i use futuremark for the gpu/cpu superpi and everest for the ram.
I am at 65C on Coretemp under load overclocked to 3.6GHz. I've found these Core processors to Post with pretty high OC's on stock vcore even if not stable, which is kind of nice as that has saved me from clearing CMOS With my AC Freezer I can run 3.8 @ 1.475, I got a boot @ 4.0 but temps were too high to try to bench or test for stability. Currently the highest temperature i get with 2 instances of prime is 65 °C edit: Some more testing, with case open I can run at 3.5Ghz with temperature reaching 67°C.

It's ok to use the stock cooler (I do on my E6600) but if temperatures become a problem you'll either need to swap for better cooling or lower your overclock.
On all "auto" settings, changing only the fsb speed i overclocked my 2.4ghz Q6600 to 3.5 on air with a zalman 9500 cooler, after 3.5 though i had to adjust the Welcome to OCF! What kind of overclocking experience do you have with BIOS OC's? the cooler installation system for the stock cooler is hrrrible compared to AMD coolers, and doesn't inspire confidence.

I will say that your mismatched 8GBs could very well prevent you of achieving a higher, stable overclock. Skill DDR2 RAM i noticed my bios/boot messages/info said DDR2-800 instead of the DDR2-1066 that both sets are, even tho it's set to auto in the bios.
