Internal Hard Drive Not Showing Up If everything is connected properly, and the drive still isn't showing up, you may want to consider the possibility that your new drive is defective. The OP stated he went there to delete the partition, but nowhere did he state he went back there to look. If it is not showing up, just check one more thing before you conclude the hardware is dead.

In fact, may of those CD's have a utility you run to select and install particular drivers, depending on your needs. It's unformatted, unactivated, so I don't expect it to show up in Windows Explorer, but it's not even in Device Manager or Disk Management. You'll have a choice of how big it should be and most likely want to use all the drive in one volume. (You can use only part of the space. i downloaded Data LifeGuard from the western digital website but I have vista so it didnt work very well, but I followed these tips and everything worked thanks so much Right please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before i lose my mind.
I bought a new HDD (Western Digital) & wanted to copy files. SATA port disabled in the BIOS 4. The drive is not detected, therefore you can do nothing with it! If your drive is not detected it may be because it is turned OFF in System Setup.
In the new Computer Management window expand "Storage" if necessary and click on Disk Management. Once again. In the new Computer Management window expand "Storage" if necessary and click on Disk Management. Go into BIOS Setup and look there whether your BIOS can detect the drive at the hardware level.
