I've also tried booting the entire system using another PSU and I get the same result as in the video linked above. I have tried all the usual stuff, the hardrive is lettered and partitioned, I'm thing maybe it is to do with Master and Slave settings but as they are SATA how Aug 18, 2008 XP Pro Setup doesn't recognize my hard drive? Sometimes you can evn get the exact settings from the hard drive manufacturer and manually input the cylinders, sectors, etc. I have replaced the CMOS battery and tried different cables aswell as formatted them. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie) 3770K @4.5, Corsair H100, GTX780, 16gig Samsung, Obsidian 700 (yes there is a 700) Back WELL TO ME EVERYTHING THAT CANNOT HAPPEN DOES!!!!!

If you are replacing the existing drive, the Vista disk will do this for you when you perform the install. I can see it under device managment but only as a disk drive without any name. Turned off computer and replaced the SATA cable, but loading into windows was still "by chance".
i even tried in disk management. I think you will eventually be able to get the info off-one way or another. Thanks. I see disk under Devices and Printers as USB to S-ATA now but everything is empty.
